RogerKart Expert Take: is HP Victus Ryzen 7 RTX 3050 worth buying?
Written by RogerKart, not copied from store reviewsThe Victus is a decent first gaming laptop: owners say it runs most games at 1080p on medium settings, stays reasonably cool and is easy to upgrade. But price decides everything here. The RTX 3050 is an older, entry-level GPU, the screen covers only 62.5% sRGB, and buyers who paid too much regret it. Gaming laptops with an RTX 4050 sometimes sell for close to this price on sale, so only buy the 3050 version with a big card discount — and compare it with an RTX 4050 Victus or Lenovo LOQ first.
✓ Buy it if
- ✓You want an entry gaming laptop for 1080p gaming at medium settings.
- ✓You also need a capable laptop for engineering software or coding.
- ✓You find it with a big card discount.
✕ Skip it if
- ✕An RTX 4050 laptop is close in price — it's clearly faster.
- ✕You edit photos or video and need accurate colours (62.5% sRGB).
- ✕You want a light laptop to carry daily (2.29kg).

Is the HP Victus with RTX 3050 good for gaming?
Yes for 1080p gaming at medium settings in most games. Newer, heavy games will need lower settings.
Is an RTX 3050 laptop worth buying in 2026?
Only at a low price. If an RTX 4050 laptop costs only a little more, the 4050 is the better buy.
What are the disadvantages of the HP Victus?
A screen with limited colour coverage, a heavy body, and a GPU set to a lower power limit than some gaming laptops.
Can I upgrade the RAM in the HP Victus?
Yes. It ships with one 16GB stick, so you can add a second for dual-channel memory and better gaming performance.
HP Victus or Lenovo LOQ?
Both are popular entry gaming laptops. Compare the GPU (RTX 3050 vs 4050), screen and today's price; the LOQ often has a higher GPU power limit.
